Common Questions Answered

We understand you may have questions about your care journey. Here are answers to some of the most frequently asked questions from our patients.

What should I bring to my first appointment?

For your first visit, please bring the following items to ensure your appointment goes as smoothly as possible:

  • A valid government-issued photo ID (driver's license or passport)
  • Your insurance card(s) and any co-pay or payment required
  • A list of all current medications, including dosages
  • Any relevant medical records, imaging (X-rays, MRI, CT scans), or referral paperwork
  • Completed new patient forms (available on our website in advance)

We recommend arriving 15–30 minutes early to allow time for check-in and any remaining paperwork.

Does Interventional Pain Consultants accept my insurance?

We accept most major insurance plans, including Aetna, BlueCross BlueShield, Cigna, Humana, Medicare, UnitedHealthcare, Tricare, and many more. We also accept Workers' Compensation, Personal Injury, and Self-Pay patients.

Upon scheduling your appointment, our team will complete an insurance authorization and confirm your coverage. If your insurance is not listed, please contact us and our billing team will be happy to assist you. You can view our full list of accepted insurances here.

We strive to accommodate urgent cases as quickly as possible. Please let us know if your condition requires prompt attention.

What types of pain conditions do you treat?

Our board-certified specialists treat a wide range of acute and chronic pain conditions, including:

  • Back pain, neck pain, and spinal conditions
  • Sciatica and lumbar radiculopathy
  • Arthritis (Joint, Rheumatoid, Spinal)
  • Neuropathic pain and nerve damage
  • Joint pain (shoulder, knee, hip)
  • Work-related injuries and chronic pain
  • Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS)
  • Post-surgical pain and failed back surgery syndrome

We offer both interventional and non-surgical treatment options tailored to your specific condition and goals.

Are the procedures performed at your office painful or risky?

Patient comfort and safety are our top priorities. Most of our interventional procedures are minimally invasive and performed using advanced imaging guidance (fluoroscopy or ultrasound) to ensure precise and safe needle placement.

Before any procedure, our physician will explain the process in detail, answer all your questions, and discuss what to expect during and after treatment. Most patients experience minimal discomfort during procedures and can return to light daily activities within a day or two.

As with any medical procedure, there are potential risks, which your care team will review with you thoroughly during your consultation. We take every precaution to minimize risks and maximize your comfort and outcomes.
